Iranian short ‘Akam’ presented at Cannes Market

Iranian short ‘Akam’ is presented at the 2020 online Cannes Film Market.

Iranian short title ‘Akam’ has been presented at the Cannes online Film Market, the Marché du Film.

Directed by Hossein Mirza-Mohammadi, the short title narrates the story of a young boy who lives in a border village in Iran’s Kordestan Province.

The boy whose name is Akam is assisting his father to hold a wedding ceremony of his sister.

The father sends Akam out of the village to do something, but when he comes back he finds all people dead except one.

Some of the cast members are Mahan Babaee, Raman Amani, Ayda Mahmoudian and Mansour Naderi.

The short film is produced by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society and Navid Mikhak.

The Marché du Film is an annual event for the professionals in the film industry to connect.

Filmmakers, buyers, distributors and others come see the event as an opportunity to introduce their works and connect to each other.

The event took place on June 22-26, 2020.
